Overview
PinguPix is my own product: QR photo and video galleries for weddings, birthdays and company parties. Guests scan a QR code and upload their moments straight into the shared gallery — no app install, no sign-up. Hosts watch the evening unfold as a live feed, collect everything in full quality and download it in one go. From the penguin branding to the UI/UX to the entire programming — it is all mine.

The problem
After every celebration the best moments sit scattered across twenty phones and get lost in WhatsApp groups — compressed, incomplete, unfindable. PinguPix collects everything right where it is created: with the guest, the moment it happens.
UX without hurdles
The biggest design decision: zero friction for guests. Scan the QR, type your name, done — no app, no account. From there everything feels as familiar as a social feed: stories, double-tap likes, comments and photo challenges that playfully nudge guests toward better pictures. Consistently mobile-first, installable as a PWA.
The tech behind it
Under the playful surface runs a serious product: Next.js with Supabase, resumable uploads straight from the phone (including HEIC & large videos), server-side image and video processing, Stripe payments with a custom checkout and a host dashboard with ZIP download, posters and QR table cards. Self-hosted in Europe, GDPR-compliant.
